In the search bar, enter a destination or tap it on the map. Follow the on-screen instructions to help Maps find your location. Tip: Point your phone camera at buildings and signs across the street, instead of trees and people. Once Maps knows where you are, you'll get directions through the camera view on your screen.

View Tracking History in Google Maps If Google Maps is installed on your phone and Location Services is turned on for the app, you can easily view your location history with Timeline: Open Google Maps and tap your profile photo. Select Your timeline from the menu.

You can use any modern web browser, such as Safari, Chrome, or Edge, to find your location in Google Maps. Click the blue-and-white target symbol. It's near the bottom-right corner of the map. This re-centers the map view to display your current location, which will be marked with a blue dot.
